Solder Wire 40/60

  • Melting Range: It begins to soften at 183°C but does not become fully liquid until about 238°C.

  • The “Pasty” State: It has a massive plastic range of 55°C. This means it stays like thick wet slush for a long time before solidifying.

  • Appearance: Because of the high lead content, the finished joints are usually dull gray rather than shiny.

  • Wetting: It does not “wet” (spread) as easily as high-tin solders, often requiring more aggressive flux or higher heat.
