Description
Key Applications
-
Environmental Sealing: It provides a critical barrier against rain, snow, and dust, helping the gland maintain an IP66 or IP67 rating for outdoor installations.2
-
Corrosion Defense: Especially important for brass glands, the hood prevents oxidation and chemical corrosion in harsh industrial or coastal environments.
-
SWA Protection: For Steel Wire Armoured (SWA) cables, it covers the armor clamping point, ensuring the mechanical and electrical integrity of the earth connection remains intact.
-
Cleanliness: It prevents dirt and debris from accumulating in the gland’s moving parts, which is essential for future maintenance or cable upgrades.3
Technical Specifications
-
Compatibility: Designed for M25 (25mm) metric threads or 3/4″ NPT/ET industrial glands.4
-
Material Options:
-
Standard PVC: Flexible, UV-resistant, and cost-effective; ideal for general outdoor use.
-
LSF (Low Smoke and Fume): Required for indoor public spaces (hospitals, schools, stations) to reduce toxic gas emissions during a fire.5
-
-
Temperature Range: Generally rated for -60°C to +90°C.6
-
Dimensions: Typically has an inner diameter (gland side) of approximately 35mm–40mm and a total length of about 90mm–100mm.
Installation Guide
| Step | Instruction |
| 1. Preparation | Slide the shroud onto the cable before attaching the cable to the gland. You cannot fit it over a completed termination. |
| 2. Sizing | Use a utility knife to trim the narrow “tail” of the shroud. Cut it slightly smaller than your cable diameter for a tight, waterproof grip. |
| 3. Flexibility | If the PVC is stiff (due to cold weather), soak it in warm water for a few seconds. This makes it much easier to pull over the hexagonal body of the M25 gland. |
| 4. Finishing | Pull the wide “bell” end firmly over the gland until it sits flush against the junction box or enclosure wall. |
