• Armored Cable Protection: For SWA (Steel Wire Armored) cables, the shroud protects the “cone and ring” assembly that clamps the armor, preventing moisture from rusting the steel wires.

Installation Tips for Large Hoods

1. The “Soak” Method: Because 28mm shrouds are made of thick PVC, they can be very stiff. If you are struggling to pull it over the hex-nut of the gland, soak the shroud in hot water for 1-2 minutes. This makes the PVC significantly more pliable.

2. Trimming the Tail: Do not cut the tail too wide initially. Trim the end of the shroud in small increments until it requires a firm push to slide onto the cable. This ensures a “glove-like” waterproof seal.

3. Order of Operations: Ensure the shroud, gland nut, and earth tag are all threaded onto the cable in the correct order before you strip the cable armor.
